Matt Hotte Car Accident

Matt Hotte Car Accident Ardrossan AL, GoFundMe, Strong’s Garage Co-Owner In Critial Condition

Matt Hotte from Ardrossan, Albarta, was in an accident on Friday. He is still in the ICU in stable but critical condition. What began as a season of joy for the Hotte family quickly turned into a heartbreaking ordeal. On July 22, 2025, Matt and Cassie Hotte welcomed their fourth child, baby Ida. Shortly after her birth, Ida faced severe complications and was rushed to the NICU. Thanks to the tireless efforts of medical staff, unwavering community support, and countless prayers, she made a remarkable recovery. By August 5, the family was reunited at home, ready to begin life as a family of six.

Just three days later, on August 8, tragedy struck again. Matt was involved in a devastating head-on collision. The impact tore his truck in half and ejected him from the vehicle. He was airlifted to the hospital by STARS, where he remains intubated and has already undergone multiple surgeries. Doctors say his recovery will be long and challenging.

Cassie has stayed almost constantly by Matt’s side, returning home only briefly to care for baby Ida and gather essentials. Their older children—Porter, Faron, and Hazel—are being cared for by close family friends, while baby Ida is with trusted neighbors from their church community.

Matt, the family’s sole provider, is well known across Strathcona County for his mechanical skills, his role at Strong’s Garage with friend and partner Jim, and his passion for vintage cars. He is deeply involved in the local bluegrass music scene and the annual Alberta T Racing event in Bruderheim. His YouTube channel, Strong’s Garage, has followers from around the world who tune in for his love of antique and classic vehicles.

The family’s friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Supporting the Hotte Family: A Call to Community” to help cover expenses while Matt recovers. The fundraiser has already raised $79,861 CAD toward its $100,000 goal from more than 725 donations.

Funds will go toward daily living costs, hospital travel expenses, potential future medical equipment, therapy, and replacing possessions lost in the accident.

Organizers are urging those unable to donate to share the campaign and continue sending prayers for Matt’s healing.

“The Hottes are the kind of family that always show up for others—and now it’s our turn to show up for them,” fundraiser organizer Erin Hollingsworth wrote.
